Exciting news — I’m heading to Europe for the first time, and I hope some of you will join me. I’ve partnered with Custom Experiences to design a small-group trip focused on food, wine, fitness, and exploration. After hosting a group retreat in Costa Rica in 2016, it felt like the right time to create another immersive experience in a very different destination. This trip blends French culture, regional cuisine, and outdoor activity for a balanced, memorable week. Here are the key details:
- Dates: May 12–17
- Destination: Burgundy, France (with time in Paris)
- Group size: 15 spots available
- Price: $2,395 + airfare — includes daily breakfast and dinner, ground transportation, accommodations, and all planned events and excursions
Below is the itinerary we’ve put together so far. It mixes guided sightseeing with free time, local food experiences, active options, and several curated wine tastings.

Day 1 – Arrival in Paris
- Arrive at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) by 9:00 AM. From there you’ll be shuttled to a boutique hotel in the heart of Paris. We’ll likely spend the afternoon on a guided walking tour of the city to see iconic sites like the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Notre-Dame, and the Louvre. In the evening we’ll gather for an opening dinner at a local restaurant to meet the group and go over the week ahead.
Day 2 – Depart for Burgundy
- After breakfast in Paris, we’ll travel to Burgundy, a region celebrated for its history and wines. On the way we will stop at the impressive Château de Fontainebleau and stroll its gardens. Later we’ll settle into a charming village property where you’ll have time to explore the grounds and relax. For dinner, our private French chef will prepare a traditional Burgundy meal.
Day 3 – Wine & French Gastronomy
- Start the morning with a gentle group workout in the countryside, followed by coffee and fresh pastries from a nearby boulangerie. Then we’ll head to Beaune for a day of wine tasting with Nicole and Pierre, our local wine hosts, who will introduce us to Burgundy’s renowned vineyards and varietals. We’ll finish the day with another special dinner crafted by our chef.
Day 4 – Adventure Day
- After enjoying cheese and wine the previous day, we’ll get active. In the morning we’ll take a scenic bike ride along the Canal de Bourgogne, passing pastoral farmland and locks. Lunch will be relaxed and casual, with regional specialties like escargots and a glass of kir, Burgundy’s classic aperitif. The afternoon is yours: choose to hike, play pétanque, relax on the estate, or explore nearby villages. In the evening we’ll have our final Burgundy dinner with the chef; if the weather is pleasant, we may picnic on the chateau grounds to celebrate our last night in the region.
Day 5 – Return to Paris
- After a morning workout and breakfast, we’ll travel back to Paris for a final day in the city. The schedule will include a curated Paris food tour that highlights authentic bakeries, markets, and casual eateries where you can taste classic Parisian flavors. Later we’ll enjoy a relaxing cruise on the Seine to admire the city’s riverside monuments from the water.
Day 6 – Relaxation & Departure
- Wake up in Paris and depart at your convenience. The trip leader can help with airport transfers or recommend activities if you decide to extend your stay in the city.
