French Dip Sliders – a smaller, party-ready take on the classic French dip sandwich. Tender roast beef, melty cheese, and a buttery garlic topping. Perfect for dinner, entertaining, or as an appetizer.
One of my favorite sandwiches is the French Dip. I love making it at home and I’ll often order it when I see it on a menu. The combination of tender beef and savory au jus is hard to beat. Traditionally, a French dip is made from a slow-cooked chuck roast or prepared in an Instant Pot, but these sliders use deli roast beef so you can have them ready fast.

Sliders are so versatile — they work for lunch, dinner, a crowd, or as a handheld appetizer. You can keep them simple or add extra toppings like caramelized onions or sautéed mushrooms for more flavor. These sliders are quick to assemble and reliably delicious.
What You’ll Need
- Deli roast beef — use rare-style roast beef if possible; the oven time warms it without drying it out.
- Provolone cheese (slices)
- Slider buns (savory or buttery rolls work best)
- Butter
- Worcestershire sauce
- Garlic (minced)
- Onion powder
- Sesame seeds
- Au jus sauce packet (or a flavorful beef consommé)
You can also add optional toppings: French fried onions, caramelized onions, sautéed mushrooms, or horseradish sauce are all great choices. Build the sliders the way you like them.

How To Make French Dip Sliders
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Slice the slider buns in half and arrange the bottom halves in a 13×9-inch baking dish.
- Place a slice of provolone on each bottom bun, then top evenly with deli roast beef. Place the top buns on the sandwiches.
- In a small bowl, melt the butter and stir in minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, and sesame seeds. Brush the mixture over the tops of the buns.
- Cover the baking dish tightly with foil and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and the sliders are heated through.
- While the sliders bake, prepare the au jus: combine the packet with water according to the packet directions (or use about 3 cups of water and follow measurements on your seasoning packet), bring to a boil, whisking until smooth, and simmer for 2–3 minutes.
- Serve the sliders hot with small bowls of au jus for dipping.

What To Serve With French Dip Sliders
- Tossed salad
- Air-fryer or oven fries
- Sautéed asparagus
- Crispy smashed potatoes
What Kind Of Slider Buns To Use
Choose a savory or buttery slider roll rather than a sweet roll for the best balance. Thicker rolls hold up well to the beef and dipping, while softer rolls deliver a pillowy bite. King’s Hawaiian and other brands offer a range of small buns — pick one that matches your preference.

Au Jus
The au jus packet is a quick, convenient option and works well for this recipe. If you prefer, use a can of beef consommé or make your own au jus from pan drippings and beef stock. For this recipe the store-bought packet or consommé is practical and fast since you only need a small amount for dipping.
If you want to make a larger, more traditional batch of au jus, you can use slow-cooked roast beef and its juices to create a rich dipping sauce and use that meat for sliders as well.
